Curbside Pickup

Here’s how Curbside Pickup will work:

Step 1: Place your hold requests for books/DVDs:

  • Call us at 609-822-4700 from 10 to 4pm, Monday through Saturday

Step 2: Once your hold request is filled, we’ll contact you and hold your item for a maximum of 7 days.

Step 3: To schedule a curbside pickup, call us between the hours of 10 and 4pm at least 30 minutes before or to schedule a time later in the day when the items will be ready.

Step 4: Pull into the parking lot (accessible on S. Granville Avenue behind the building). Call us at 609-822-4700 to let us know you’ve arrived and open up your trunk. Your order will be brought to your vehicle. Library staff will not accept returns in the parking lot. Returns are to be placed in the exterior bookdrops.


Question: When can I get my items?
Answer: The Margate Library will offer Curbside Pickup from 10am-4pm Monday to Saturday. There is no service on Sunday.

Question: Is there a limit to the number of items I can get?
Answer: At this time, there is a limit of 10 items per pickup (normal restrictions apply). If you have extenuating circumstances that you wish to discuss with library staff, please call 609-822-4700 and ask to speak with a supervisor.

Question: I placed my hold online, when will it be ready?
Answer: We will call you to let you know the materials are ready.

Question: Where do I park?
Answer: In the parking lot behind the building. When you park, please call into the library and open your trunk or open a window for a side of the vehicle with no occupants.

Question: Do I have to be the person to pick up my items?
Answer: No, you can send a family member or a friend. 

Question: Can staff offer recommendations?
Answer: We’re always happy to help. Call us at 609-822-4700 and tell us what you like or enjoy. The more specific you are, the better we’ll be able to assist you. You can also contact us at with requests for special topics or help.

Question: How do I know materials are safe?
Answer: Upon return, books and DVDs are quarantined for a period of 72 hours or more as per state and federal guidelines. Our staff wear face coverings when handling materials and we limit the number of people working to fulfill your order.

Question: How do I return materials?
Answer: We have two exterior bookdrops that are now open. Please use them to return materials. For the protection of our staff, returns/holds will not be accepted during curbside service.

Question: When will you reopen to the public?
Answer: At this time, the library buildings are open. The library services are being offered, but not as they were before the pandemic. If you have a specific question that needs answered fell free to call us at 609-822-4700.
