View Step-by-Step instructions below for setting up Freegal.

Creating an Account

  1. Visit: https://margatelibrary.freegalmusic.com/home
  2. Select Log In in the upper right-hand corner.
  3. Enter your Margate library card number. Enter your email to receive notifications of remaining downloads you have left. You will receive a verification email with a link to confirm your account.
  4. Cardholders who were able to download 5 MP3s per week before, will be able to download 3 MP3s per week and stream 8 hours per day. Streaming hours and Number of downloads remaining will appear on the top of the Freegal hompage.

Downloading Freegal on your Mobile Device or IPad

  • Search for and install the Freegal app from your device’s app store (App Store, Google Play, Samsung Store, etc).
  • Open the app and search for Margate. Follow steps 3-4 as listed above.

  • Access over 13 million songs and 40,000 labels using your library card!
