Experience our roadside attraction

Margate’s most famous resident, Lucy the Elephant, has been greeting visitors to Margate for its entire history. Lucy was built in 1881 and has been an important touchstone for generations. The Margate Historical Museum has displays highlighting the elephant’s story.
